COLLECTIONS
My work is in numerous private collections in the New England
and New York City region.
GineenCooper is a poet, writer, visual artist, trained SoulCollage facilitator, and peer support in healing.
She has led groups in the use of writing, movement, collage, dreamwork and painting to help people connect to their creative inner resources in the Pioneer Valley and beyond for the last six years.
Showing visual work for the last fifteen years in local galleries, she also co-facilitates an ongoing weekly creative writing group for the Recovery Learning Center in Northampton, MA and participates in local readings.
She has been published in many literary journals. Most recently Naugatuck River Review's WINTER '10 issue of narrative poetry featured her poem entitled "Late Words for My Sister."
Artist Statement The practice of meditation has transformed my creative work. It allows me to engage the energy of the moment through the principles of mindfulness.
Through diverse mediums, my aim is to raise the consciousness of the viewer. My vehicles of expression through writing are poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and playwriting. Visually I employ fiber art, performance art, painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation art, photography and collage as modalities.
Through my art I seek to bring awareness about societal issues which affect empowerment and personal freedom.
I believe all beings are potential channels for the creative energy inherent in the universe. My interactive art workshops teach others how to connect within themselves and discover their true nature, discovering a way of being that is naturally happy, joyous and free.
